Hey Ron,

If one were to stay up past midnight and watch infomercials then it seems quite possible that burning fat from a particular area is possible. Unfortunately, the people that sell those worthless devices (mainly ab ones), don't have the ethics that I do, nor do they really care about helping people.

The truth is that spot reduction (burning fat from a particular area in hopes of reducing it), is not possible. Fat loss is a 2-step process, in that the fat has to be released from the adipose cell, where it is then sent into the bloodstream and burned in the mitochondria of the muscle cell. There is not much rhyme or reason to it (though I will say that if you gain weight first in an area, then usually you'll lose it there first), as fat loss is systemic meaning it comes off the whole body.

It's quite sad that products are able to be sold under such false pretenses, but like I said, we're wiping the slate clean and putting the right info into place.
